F1 - wow , and again wow !

One of my friend asked why F1 cars are soo special ...It is really special......When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!! ...F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph and back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....that's the extent to which the engines are pushed to perform... An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high Gravitational forces and temperatures for little over an hour.To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added down force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track.
Without aerodynamic down force, high-performance racing cars have sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160 kph. They usually race at over 300 kph. In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening!The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car. They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.

After coming to know about these point , I just can say "WOW !!!!"

Dan Brown - A man of huge knowledge !!

Dan Brown , one of the most inspiring person , the modern world have.I am saying this not only because of his books but also with the way he approach historical truths and myths.He,the author of angels and demons ,davinci code etc. showed the world a new way of authoring fictions,rather science fictions [science vs religion].I started reading his books two months before,but the way his books are inspiring me ,I am insisted to stay reading his books alone.Two books which I quoted above are impeccable.Though the climax of Angels and Demons are quite complex or just like a bollywood flick,I loved the concept.That love became craze after I read his Davinci code.I heard about this book from my friends and also various websites . Inspired , I went to near by book shop and bought Davinci code and Angels $ demons.
Since the story of the American symobologist ,Robert Langdon started in AD,I preferred AD to Davinvi code.I read it and it was like amazing and gave me the energy and zeal to read Davinci code.I started with listening to narration , but couldnt resist the cult to read .Today I
finished it and I am pretty happy about it I am not a bookworm,and to be frank I uses books as my sleeping pills.But these books turned out to be just opposite to what I usually used it for.It took away my sleep and I have been reading it without sleeping for hours.In my case , I can show this as the best example of how good this book is,though it is a bit shame
for me [book as sleeping pills....].
Yesterday I went through his site ,
www.danbrown.com and watched some videos of his interviews and also some narrations , mp3 etc..In my mind Dan brown was an old person with a big beard just like davinci.But, to my surprise, He was too young to be such a big writer.Reading his books , we will surely think about a person who looks and behaves like galileo or Davinci.The books itself shows how much research he must have done to complete his book.In one of his interview he told , "For two pages in davinci code , altelast five papers will go scrap and I included only those details which are compact and just in need for the story to move forward".Its sure that he had a lot of concepts. The movie released early last month and through out this book I saw TomHanks in place of Robert Langdon and also I visioned the scenes in the trailors in place of the sequences and dramatic situaitions in the book.My intuition was to read the book atleast once before I watch the book and I think it is the best choice.I read the book now and my next step is to buy DVD and watch it in my DVD player which is connected to the 3500W Music system and my "Old is Gold" Philips TV.
I want to qoute , "Those who never read this book , is simply missing the book of LifeTime".I thank those who helped me in developing reading habit and also turned me towards science fictions , which was earlier towards politcial journals and biographies.
The next book in my list is a political biased writing by Noam Chomsky.He is extremely criticial of the policies of Israel towards Palestinians and minority jewish popultion within Israel.The book is with my mom and she used it for teaching her students.This book has been attracting me for months,but as I said earlier, I couldnt resist Dan Brown's writings.

Web 2.0

Yesterday , one of my friend called me and asked me about Web 2.0 and he wants a ppt based on it .He have to take a seminar in his office . "Web 2.0" , the change came exponentially.Till recently I thought it didnt have much to help us,but the truth itself got revealed.Now it seems to have acquired enough meaning as it changed the thought , "its of no use for us". I first heard "web2.0" from my friends who were discussing about new technologies.When I went through the O'Reilly website,I really figured out the
definition of web2.0.
Tim O'Reilly says the phrase "web2.0" actually came out from the brainstorming session between O'Reilly and Medialive International.They want the web to be more important than ever,with exciting applications and sites popping out with regularity.
As per O'Reilly website , the transformation can be figured out from this.
Web 1.0 --> Web 2.0
DoubleClick --> Google AdSense
Ofoto --> Flickr
Akamai --> BitTorrent
mp3.com --> Napster
Britannica Online --> Wikipedia
personal websites --> blogging
evite --> upcoming.org and EVDB
domain name speculation --> search engine optimization
page views --> cost per click
screen scraping --> web services
publishing --> participation
content management systems --> wikis
directories (taxonomy) --> tagging ("folksonomy")
stickiness --> syndication
The list will go on.What differs is the approach and user Interactivity.What more confusing is that the Web 2.0 has become so widespread that companies are now pasting it on as a marketing buzzword, with no real understanding of just what it means. The question is particularly difficult because many of those buzzword-addicted startups are definitely not Web 2.0, while some of the applications I identified as Web 2.0, like Napster and BitTorrent, are not even properly web applications!
Like most of the concepts , Web 2.0 doesnt have any boundary , but it really have a core engine. I can visualize Web 2.0 as a set of principles and practices that tie together a solar system of sites that demonstrate some or all of those principles, at a varying distance from that core.
If Netscape was the standard bearer for Web 1.0, Google is most certainly the standard bearer for Web 2.0, So let's start with a comparison of these two companies and their positioning. Netscape framed "the web as platform" and the product was mainly based on web browser,a desktop application.They also tried to project "webtop" to replace the desktop concept and planned to populate it with updates and informations.
Google,by contrast, started their sail as a web application,delievered as a service rather than a commodity,with customers paying directly or indirectly for their service.There were no scheduled software releases,only continous
improvement.Google requires a competency that Netscape never needed: database
management. Google isn't just a collection of software tools, it's a specialized
database. Without the data, the tools are useless; without the software, the data is
unmanageable.Google's service is not a server--though it is delivered by a massive collection of internet servers--nor a browser--though it is experienced by the user within the browser.

3G Technology for Mobile Phones

Today I had a talk with my friend regarding the 3G phones.He is very much interested in buying phone of 3G.I was wondering why he is so eager to do so.3G is third-generation technology in the context of mobile phone standards.The most significant feature 3G gives us is the capacity to support greater numbers of voice and data customers.3G uses 5 MHz channel carrier width to deliver significantly higher data rates and increased capacity compared to 2G.It also allows transmission of 384 kbit/s for mobile systems and 2 Mbit/s for stationary systems.The 2G were built mainly for telephone calls and slow data transmissions.Due to the rapid changes in technology, these factors do not meet the requirements of modern wireless connections.
The standards are also changing.The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has defined the demands for the 3G mobile networks with the IMT-2000 standard.The new system which works the above standard is UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System).The first new technology when going from GSM to UTMS is GPRS (General Packet Radio Service).It is the trigger to 3G service.The main Point is that the network connection is always on,so the subsriber is always online.From GPRS, the operator can directly go to UTMS or EDGE system.The advantage of EDGE system over UTMS is that , there is no need for new license , which help in re-usage of frequencies and antennas.The only issue is that the customer should go for EDGE terminal.
Even though 3G is succesfully implemented in Europe,Asia and North Africa , there are some issues that are debated by 3G providers and users such as high input frees for 3G service licenes , health aspects due to electromagnetic waves , expense of 3G phones, compatibility of 2G phones with 3G technology and lack of coverage.We , as users , will get affected by the high prices of 3G mobile service and also the internet access.So our mobile technology is booming ......but as long as it is not affordable , I cant think of buying it .
